If you enjoy outdoor activities and are comfortable hiking, you will find our tours both thrilling and manageable. However, if you have severe health issues or are not accustomed to physical exertion, these tours might not be suitable.
Safety is our top priority at Sukia Travel. Our guides are not only experts in Costa Rican wildlife but are also certified in Wilderness First Response (WFR) and Search and Rescue (SAR). We meticulously plan every aspect of the tour, with strict safety protocols and high-quality gear to ensure your adventure is both safe and exhilarating. The Osa Peninsula is one of the most complex and remote regions in Costa Rica, requiring intricate logistics that can be daunting without expert guidance. For example, there are only 25 captains who can safely land on the peninsula’s beaches. Spotting animals in the dense jungle requires years of experience, understanding the seasonal fruit production, and knowing the specific niches where wildlife appears. The jungle is not a horizontal world; animals can be hidden in any of the layers of life that extend up to 80 meters, forming seven different worlds. We also know the hidden waterfalls, secret caves, and possess specialized optical and rescue gear tailored for jungle conditions. Our guided tours eliminate the guesswork, ensuring you experience the best of this incredible region.
The packing list varies depending on the package you choose, but it generally includes essentials like a comfortable backpack for hiking, a reusable water bottle, a raincoat, mosquito repellent, a swimsuit, breathable and dry-fit clothing, hiking shoes, and water shoes. After booking, we provide a detailed PDF with a comprehensive packing list tailored to your specific adventure.
Visiting the Osa Peninsula is a unique and challenging experience. Historically, it was the last agricultural frontier because of its difficult access and wild conditions, which helped preserve its rich biodiversity. Today, Osa Peninsula remains the last tourism frontier in Costa Rica, largely due to the complex logistics required to operate here. This is why major tour operators avoid the region. The logistics, supply chain, and the need for specialized personnel make our tours more challenging to organize but also more rewarding. The Osa Peninsula is considered the most biologically intense place on the planet, and Corcovado National Park has been named the best natural park in the world by Discovery. You’re already flying to Costa Rica, possibly only once in your lifetime—why miss the crown jewel of Costa Rica and tropical Americas?
Due to the complicated logistics involved in operating tours in the Osa Peninsula, our cancellation policies are structured to reflect these challenges. We recommend reviewing our detailed cancellation policies on our website here before booking. This policy ensures that we can continue to offer exceptional service while managing the complexities of operating in such a remote and demanding environment.
We operate tours year-round, except for October, when the weather conditions make it impractical to conduct tours. The dry season, from December to April, is the most popular time to visit, with little to no rain and more predictable weather, although nature always retains an element of unpredictability. The rainy season spans the rest of the year, with rainfall typically occurring for 2 to 4 hours a day. During this time, the rainforest is more vibrant, the sunsets are dramatic, and nature is at its most natural and spontaneous. Our tours are designed to allow you to experience nature as it truly is—without artificial ingredients—where tourists adapt to nature instead of nature adapting to tourists. Embrace the spontaneity and surprises that come with every corner of the Osa Peninsula.
